Rembrandt – Painter of Humanity

Rembrandt was a painter of humanity. Of life. Of imperfections.

We cannot overestimate the importance of his vast output within the History of Art. And yet his story was a tragic one. His life ended miserably with bankruptcy, loss and burial in a pauper’s grave.

Rembrandt’s paintings are characterised by drama, directness and his masterly use of light. This talk will explore some of his finest masterpieces, including ‘The Night Watch’ and ‘The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp’.
